The music hit me so hard I had to pull over and just listen. It was the longest of the versions that Harris has published, so I sat on the side of the road for a good eight minutes... SO glad I did, because while the first two minutes were incredible, the rest was masterful. I just could not believe my ears. Since then, I've fallen in love with just about every piece of Gene's music, especially "Uptown Sop" and "The Real Blues" with the Ray Brown Trio. As a Lindy Hopper and blues dancer, it has been a BLAST to dance to nearly all of his music. I've not yet been, but I am dying to get to the Gene Harris Festival in Boise, Idaho.
