Leonard Cohen “Hallelujah” and “Chelsea Hotel”

I don’t know when or where this was recorded but it’s great. I love random television appearances like this. I don’t know what I love about this most–the lip syncing, the set, the people swaying in the archways, the smoke machine, or the leaves all over the floor. The people pretending to sing the hallelujah part are so excited to be on stage that they’re peeking from behind the pillars before it’s time for them to come out. Once they’re in full view of the camera they sway slightly out of time to the music.

Hallelujah and Chelsea Hotel are two of my favorite Leonard Cohen songs. At the end of the movie Saint Ralph there was a very good remake of Hallelujah by Gord Downie.
